Introducing the Construction Hub: Powering the Builder Economy in Upland

As we move closer to welcoming Residents into Upland, we’re not just rolling out new features, we’re building toward the future of Upland as a true city builder. One where the economy is player-driven, roles are more specialized, and every structure placed on the map plays a part in shaping a living, evolving world.

One important step toward that vision is the upcoming Construction Hub.

This upcoming feature expands on Upland’s core pillars of ownership, entrepreneurship, and community by enabling a true builder economy. It’s a direct response to what we’ve always envisioned, an Upland where players not only own and trade properties, but actively shape neighborhoods, build businesses, and provide services to each other.

What Is the Construction Hub?

The Construction Hub is a brand-new marketplace coming to Upland that will enable players to build structures that others might not have access to. It’s a core part of the playstyle we’ve envisioned since first introducing the concept of Residents and service structures. A future where some players specialize as builders, collecting unique buildings and contracting with others to bring their properties to life.

The Construction Hub makes that vision real.

How It Will Work

Let’s say you want to build a Paris Cafe service structure on your property, but you missed your chance to acquire it when it was available. With the Construction Hub, that’s no longer a roadblock.

With the Construction Hub you’ll be able to:

  • Open the build panel
  • Select the Paris Cafe
  • Place it on your property
  • Put out an offer. For instance, 2,500 UPX, for someone who does own the Paris Cafe to come and construct it
  • Once a player accepts the job and begins construction, your offered UPX automatically transfers to them. To initiate the commission, you’ll need to stake the minimum Sparklet requirement when posting the job. Builders will still need to be within discovery range of the property to fulfill the contract. You can then continue contributing Sparklet alongside the builder to complete construction.

It’s a win-win! Builders get paid for their exclusive access and skills, and property owners unlock new customization opportunities.

Expanding the Builder Economy

The Construction Hub is another important step in shaping Upland into a more connected, immersive, and economically richcity-building experience. A world that grows through player collaboration, with real industries, Residents, Uppies, and purpose.

We can’t wait to share more as the Construction Hub gets closer to launch!
