Troves Go Live Today: How to Collect, Bank, and Progress

Troves are going live today, opening a new way to explore Upland, discover what different structures and plants hold, build a collection, and turn those discoveries into lasting progress.

This is the beginning of the Troves beta and a phased rollout, not the finished version of the entire system. The team will be measuring real player activity, reward pacing, progression, and balance as everyone plays. Mechanics and rewards may change during beta, and the full new-player onboarding experience planned for later this year will use different rewards.

Starting in phases gives everyone time to learn the loop, build an inventory, and understand each new batch as it arrives.

If a friend has been waiting for a reason to return, or you know someone who would enjoy discovering Upland for the first time, invite them to explore with you. Troves are built for comparing finds, sharing discoveries, and learning together.

What Goes Live Today

Today’s first beta release includes:

  • 189 unique Troves available to discover and collect.
  • Trove Banking with Bronze and Silver banking tiers.
  • Upland Progression, with banking as the primary way to advance at launch.
  • Block Explorer stamina, which powers Trove collection through one shared global pool.
  • No crafting recipes at launch. Recipes begin rolling out in later batches, so today is about exploring, collecting, learning what different places can hold, and deciding what you may want to bank.

New Troves, crafting recipes, and higher banking tiers will arrive at regular intervals over the coming weeks. This staged release is intentional: it gives you time to collect and understand the system before the next layer opens.

What Troves Are

Troves are collectible items found throughout Upland. In this first release, you can discover them by visiting Service Structures and plant life on properties with your Block Explorer. Different structures and plants can hold different possibilities, which makes moving through neighborhoods and trying new locations part of the experience.

Some Troves can be found directly. As recipes roll out, collected Troves will also become ingredients that can be used at Service Structures to craft higher-level Troves. Some crafted results can then feed into deeper recipes. That creates a path from an everyday discovery to a much larger collection goal.

Collecting from structures or plants you own can already improve your chances of finding rarer Troves. A future update will add another layer to collecting: plant maturity will influence Trove drops. During this beta phase, young plants offer the same Trove drop chances as mature plants, so you can start collecting right away without waiting for them to grow.

How to Collect Your First Trove

  1. Move your Block Explorer close to a Service Structure or plant. Collection is location-based, so your Block Explorer needs to be near the object on the map.
  2. Press and hold the structure or plant to collect. A normal tap opens its details. The press-and-hold interaction is what starts a Trove collection attempt.
  3. See what you found. Your result is added to your Trove inventory, and a first-time discovery begins filling out your collection.
  4. Keep moving and exploring. Each object has its own cooldown for you. Once you have collected from that specific object, visit another structure or plant instead of repeatedly using the same one.

Cooldowns are tracked per player and per object. Your cooldown does not prevent another player from collecting there, and a cooldown on one object does not put every object of that type on cooldown. If you press and hold an object that is still on cooldown for you, the result can be Trove Dust instead of another regular find. Dust collection still uses stamina, so exploring fresh locations is the better way to use your available pool.

Find Everything in Your Trove Wallet

Tap the Troves icon on the map to open your Trove Wallet. Here you can see the Troves you hold, your balances, and the categories you have begun to discover. Use it to compare what you have found and decide what to preserve for progression.

Once recipes begin rolling out, discovering a Trove for the first time will also reveal available recipes that consume it. You will be able to see which ingredients a discovered recipe needs, collect the missing pieces, and visit the Service Structure where that recipe is available. On launch day, however, there are no active crafting recipes, so collecting and banking are the first playable layers.

How Block Explorer Stamina Works

Every player receives a free baseline of 100 stamina, and the Block Explorers held in your wallet add more stamina to the same pool. The entire global pool, including the free baseline, refills every six hours. The in-app countdown shows when the next refill is coming.

You do not need to equip an explorer, choose an active explorer, or switch between them. Wallet-held Block Explorers contribute together to one shared total. Every collection attempt uses that pool, including an attempt that produces Trove Dust.

You can view stamina from your profile, the top-left display, the Block Explorers section of your Asset Wallet, and an individual explorer’s full-screen view. When viewing another player’s Block Explorer, the number shown is its maximum contribution, not that player’s remaining usable stamina. A transfer does not reset stamina that has already been spent; the explorer must wait for the next shared refill with its new owner.

Launch stamina values by edition size:

  • 1-of-1 explorers: 1,000 stamina (Excluding Director Explorers)
  • 2–5 mints: 750 stamina
  • 6–10 mints: 350 stamina
  • 11–24 mints: 200 stamina
  • 25–50 mints: 125 stamina
  • Director Explorers: 125 stamina
  • 51–100 mints: 75 stamina
  • 101–250 mints: 40 stamina
  • 251–499 mints: 25 stamina
  • 500+ mints: 10 stamina

The initial launch values are beta settings and may be adjusted as the team studies real collection activity and balance.

Two commemorative collections have approved exceptions: Little Frights and Troves After Dark explorers each contribute 150 stamina, even though their edition size would normally fall in the 75-stamina band.

How to Bank Troves and Build Progress

Banking is the primary way to increase your Upland Progression level at launch. Banking means permanently depositing Troves into the Trove Vault to meet progression requirements and work toward rewards.

  1. Open your Trove Wallet and choose a Trove you have collected.
  2. Review its available banking tier. Bronze and Silver are available in this first release, and the required quantity can vary by Trove.
  3. Use the bank action when you hold enough copies. The banking option becomes available when your inventory meets the requirement.
  4. Confirm the permanent deposit. Banked Troves cannot be withdrawn, returned to spendable inventory, or used in recipes later.

That final step matters. A Trove in your inventory remains available for future recipes and other uses as those systems arrive. A Trove placed in the Vault becomes part of your permanent banking achievement instead.

Each Trove has its own banked tier, while your profile has an overall Upland Progression level. Banking Troves helps move that overall level forward. Your profile shows the next milestone and its available reward, giving you a clear goal without requiring you to memorize the whole progression path.

The beta begins strictly with Troves as the progression requirement. Additional types of requirements may be introduced later after the team has real usage data. The opening levels are designed to teach the collection and banking loop, so their pace and rewards should not be treated as the final depth of progression.

Crafting: What Comes Next

Crafting is an important part of the larger Troves system, but it is not available on launch day. Here is how the loop will work as recipes roll out:

  1. Discover a Trove. The first discovery reveals recipes that consume that Trove.
  2. Collect the ingredients. A recipe becomes ready when you hold its required Troves.
  3. Go to the Service Structure where the recipe is available. Recipes are accessed on the Service Structure itself, not from a generic property menu.
  4. Fulfill the recipe. Crafting consumes the listed ingredients and grants the recipe’s stated result. Recipes can also provide additional bonus rewards.
  5. Explore deeper combinations. Some crafted Troves can become ingredients in later recipes, creating higher-level paths over time.

Players select a recipe, not its bonus roll. The stated result provides the recipe’s default outcome, while any additional rewards can vary. This lets crafting have surprises without turning the basic result into a completely unknown outcome.

What the Phased Beta Builds Toward

The launch set of 189 collectible Troves is the first batch, not the full catalog. Across the rollout, the team is preparing over 500 Troves and a much deeper recipe system. New Troves, recipes, and banking tiers will arrive in regular batches over the coming weeks, allowing the system to grow without asking players to understand every layer at once.

The beta also gives the team room to tune collection activity, reward pacing, progression requirements, and overall balance. Early mechanics and rewards can change as real play reveals what is working and what needs adjustment. Later systems, including broader plant interactions, automation, and farming, are part of the future direction rather than today’s first release.

For now, the best way to begin is simple: move your Block Explorer, try different Service Structures and plants, fill your wallet, compare discoveries with other players, and choose carefully before banking anything permanently.
