In June 2022, Upland released the alpha version of its Developer Tools and announced the Upland Developer’s Program (UDN). Unique in its strategic architectural design from other leading metaverses, Upland does not require developers to build exclusively on Upland using the Upland tech stack. Rather, Upland allows any developer – web2 or web3 – to either connect their existing game/metaspace to the Upland ecosystem, or to build a new experience using their preferred tech-stack. Through the APIs, developers can enjoy the many benefits of being part of the Upland platform including: discoverability, context, virtual locality, the existing economy and payment infrastructure, easy creation of NFTs with blockchain obfuscation, and most importantly - the opportunity to connect to the amazing Upland community.
The ability to onboard existing game and meta-space developers sits at the heart of Upland’s strategy to become the Metaverse Superapp. Executing this strategy, however, requires additional tailored onboarding for devs who are not familiar with Upland or web3 economies. UDNPRO was originally set out to help fill in the gap and serve as a ‘hand holding solution’ for game studios who wish to connect to Upland. Now that the UDNPRO track is in a successful proof of concept (POC) with a number of external dev partners, Upland is opening the program to all UDN members to apply. Applications to this exclusive track will be accepted with the following criteria and considerations:
- Experience is ready to launch - confirmed by the UDN launch committee
- API Integration: the UDN member has fulfilled the minimum integration requirements of incorporating identity and asset escrow integration in their 3rd party apps, demonstrating use of UPX and/or Upland assets within their own experiences
- Presentation of long-term roadmap
- Presentation of benefits to the Upland Community
*Upland will add criteria from time to time as more devs apply to raise the bar and make sure the overall quality of the devs increases to provide better services to the Upland community.*
- UPX Grant for purchasing dev-shop real-estate and renting spark.
- Custom structure (building) within Upland
- Upland Partnership manager will accompany the track members in their strategy and operations support.
- Marketing: Upland will promote the Experience to the existing Upland user base through:
- UPX buy-back program for revenue over 20M UPX.
