Detroit After Dark: Upland’s First-Ever Halloween Scavenger Hunt Has Arrived

The fog has rolled in, shadows are creeping over the streets of Detroit, and something mysterious is stirring in Upland. This Halloween, we invite you to step into the unknown with the Detroit After Dark Hunt, our first-ever Halloween Scavenger Hunt using the brand new game mode.

Designed to thrill and challenge, this haunted hunt will test your wits with exclusive in-game clues powered by Upland’s immersive POV view. As you explore the darkened corners of Detroit, you’ll unlock hidden treasure chestsfilled with UPX and uncover limited-time Halloween rewards. Scavenger Hunts have evolved, turning the Upland map into a sprawling puzzle full of secrets and spooky surprises.

How It Works

Players who register for the hunt will have 24 hours to complete it, from October 30th at 9 AM PT to October 31st at 9 AM PT. This is not a race to the finish. It’s about taking your time, solving riddles, and exploring the eerie spirit of Halloween within the world of Upland.

Registration Starts: Wednesday, October 29th 9AM PT
Registration Ends: Thursday, October 30th, 7AM PT
Hunt Begins: Thursday, October 30th, 9AM PT.
Hunt Ends: Friday, October 31st, 9AM PT.

At the start of the hunt, players will be teleported free of charge to the starting location in Detroit by clicking the prompt in the event window. From there, it’s a game of deduction:

  • Solve visual and textual clues to locate specific properties
  • Guess correctly to move forward
  • Get it wrong, and you’ll need to revisit the map and try again

This is not your typical treasure hunt. You’ll use only your knowledge of Upland and your detective instincts to solve each step. No Google Maps. No external tools. Just you and the haunted streets of Detroit.

How to Register

To join, go to the Treasure Hunting tab in the Quick Menu:

  • Tap the globe icon
  • Choose Detroit as your starting city
  • Register for the event for 2,000 UPX

​​Important: You must register during the event’s registration window to participate. If you miss the window, you will not be able to join the hunt.

Everyone who completes the hunt will earn more UPX than they spend, along with some exclusive Halloween prizes.

Every player who completes the hunt will receive:

  • UPX rewards for each clue discovered
  • Limited Edition Sinister Seed Block Explorer
  • Special Wicked in Green Property Background Card
  • Special Back Yard Bats Property Background Card

There are no extra prizes for finishing first. Everyone who completes the journey is celebrated equally. This event is about discovery, immersion, and enjoying the spooky side of Upland.
