Developer Update: Big Improvements on the Horizon

We’re back with a fresh update on key improvements we’re working on behind the scenes, along with important in-game changes as we gear up for the future of Uppies in Upland.

Selling Properties with Map Assets

First up, we’re fast-tracking a highly requested feature: the ability to sell properties with all their attached map assets! This has been on our long-term roadmap for some time, but after hearing recent community feedback, we’ve decided to move it up in priority. Development is already underway, and we’re targeting a full release in Q4 of this year.

This change will unlock exciting new possibilities, especially for strategies like property flipping and neighborhood improvements. You’ll be able to purchase undeveloped or underdeveloped properties, enhance them with map assets, and then resell them as more attractive locations.

This feature also plays a critical role in preparing for the arrival of Uppies, as it will help build richer, more vibrant neighborhoods for them to discover and interact with. Since Uppies will be drawn to areas based on development, design, and engagement, players will have more incentive, and now more tools, to actively shape their surroundings and contribute to a more dynamic in-game world.

Improved Asset Search

We’re also working to improve the accuracy of the asset search feature by removing reserved map assets from listings. These currently distort pricing and make search results less useful. Once implemented, players will be able to browse assets more efficiently and find what they need faster.

Streamlining UGC Submissions

As Upland grows, we’re seeing record numbers of User-Generated Content (UGC) submissions. While we’re thrilled with the creativity from the community, we know that wait times have gotten longer.

We’re actively working on improving our internal processes to speed up submission reviews and approvals, and we expect wait times to drop significantly soon. These changes are part of our broader effort to prepare for even more UGC in the future.

Update to Sends

As we look ahead to the upcoming Uppie Discovery feature, we’re making a major gameplay change: the removal of the need to collect and use sends. While sends played an important role in Upland’s early development, the game is evolving. Soon, you’ll be able to send your explorer to any property, unlimited and without collecting sends!

Send fees for other players’ properties will still apply, but otherwise, you’ll enjoy full freedom of movement across the map. This will roll out as a test, and we’ll be monitoring the impact closely. We also want to hear from you, tell us how this change affects your gameplay experience.
