Farming Is Coming to Upland: Get Ready for Farms, Crops, and Machinery
May 28, 2026

Farming is on the horizon in Upland, and we’re excited to share more about how this future mechanic is taking shape. Farming will introduce a new path for players who want to specialize in large-scale production, while still allowing more casual players to participate in the broader troves ecosystem at their own pace.
Farming is currently under development, and this early sale is intended for players who are comfortable getting in early while the feature continues to be built. If you prefer to wait until farming is fully developed, there will be more opportunities in the future.
Before diving in, make sure to read this week’s Troves announcement to understand the broader direction Upland is heading and how troves will connect different parts of the ecosystem.
How Plants, Troves, and STEM Connect
Plants will be one of the most visible ways players interact with troves. All plants in Upland will produce troves, including decorative plants used for design and functional plants used for production. That means every property has the ability to contribute something to the system.
Some plants will also be STEM-bearing. These include fruit trees, crops, and other resource-producing vegetation. STEM-bearing plants can produce resource troves, which may be exchanged for STEM at service structures such as supermarkets.
For example, an apple tree may produce apple troves over time. These apple troves can be taken to a service structure and exchanged for STEM, or used later as part of recipes. Only resource troves can be exchanged for STEM.
Why Farming Matters
Farming introduces scale, especially for STEM-bearing production.
There is a clear difference between having a single STEM-bearing plant on a residential property and operating a farm. A fruit tree in a yard may occasionally produce a trove that can be exchanged for STEM. Farming expands that same idea into a more structured and consistent production system.
Farms will allow players to plant and manage large-scale production of STEM-bearing crops and orchards, such as wheat, corn, apples, and grapes. Rather than relying on chance interactions across scattered properties, farming will create a more reliable way to generate STEM-bearing troves at scale.
This gives players a new role within Upland. Some players may choose to focus on farming as a primary way to generate STEM-bearing troves, optimizing their farms over time for efficiency and output.
At the same time, farming does not replace other forms of play. Residential properties, decorative builds, and other systems will continue producing a variety of troves needed for recipes and progression. Farming is simply a way to scale one specific part of the system.
Farm Properties
Farming can only take place on specially designated Farm Properties located outside of cities in Upland. These properties do not generate yield, as they are intended specifically for farming and growing STEM-bearing crops.
In the future, special farming crop seeds will be available for players to plant on their farms. These will be different from individual plants, as they will come in bulk crop packages and be planted as crops. Multiple crops will be able to grow on a single farm property.
Similar to other plants, crops will follow a bloom cycle during each Upland season. Players will need to care for their crops to help ensure the best possible harvest. When crops bloom and become ready to harvest, players may be able to harvest them multiple times during the season.

When a crop becomes ready to harvest, players will need to actively manage the process to get the most out of it. Harvesting is intended to reward players who pay attention, return to their farms, and put in the effort to collect as much as possible while the crop is available.
This is also where farming machinery becomes especially valuable. Vehicles are designed to help automate parts of the harvesting and care process, making it easier for players to manage their farms efficiently and maximize their crop output over time.

The total amount a player can harvest, along with the number of harvest opportunities available, will depend on the type of crop and how well that crop has been cared for. Better care can help improve the crop’s overall harvest potential.
Note: Farming mechanics are currently in development and may be adjusted before the feature is fully released. The details shared here reflect the current direction of the feature and are intended to help early adopters understand what is planned at this stage.
Farm Locations and Crop Specialization
In the future, farm location will matter. Each farm is tied to the city it is located near, and that connection may influence the types of crops or farming opportunities available there.
For example, a farm near a city in France may support vineyard-focused production, while a farm near Fresno may be better suited for crops like wheat. Fresno farms included in this initial sale will be tied to the city of Fresno.
When players harvest crops, they will convert those harvests through the city their farm is tied to. Crop harvests are planned to support three possible paths: progressing and leveling up the farm, generating seeds, or generating STEM.
More details about crop conversion, farm progression, seeds, and city-based specialization will be shared as farming continues to develop. Mechanics are still in development and may be adjusted prior to feature release.
Farm Structures
Farm structures are designed to help farmers improve their operations.Crop output will depend in part on how developed a farm is with supporting structures.
Farm structures are intended to be permanently available in the store, with different structures available in UPX and USD and once a player purchases one, it will disappear from that player’s store. Only one of each type of structure will apply its boost to a property. Additional structures of the same type may still be placed for aesthetic purposes.
The following are the first farm structures planned for release, with additional structures expected to be added over time. These initial structures will begin becoming available on ThursdayMay 28 at 9 AM PT.
Farm Silo
Provides a small capacity boost on the farm where it is built.
Price: 15,000 UPX

Farm Water Tower
Provides a small capacity boost on the farm where it is built.
Price: 15,000 UPX

Heritage Barn
Provides a larger capacity boost on the farm where it is built.
Price: 30,000 UPX

Countryside Farmhouse
Provides a capacity boost on the farm where it is built.
Price: 50,000 UPX

Modern Farm Barn
Provides a much larger capacity boost on the farm where it is built, helping players expand their farming operations and support greater crop output.
Price: $10

Farm Equipment Shed
Provides a much larger capacity boost on the farm where it is built, supporting more developed farming operations and increased production potential.
Price: $15

Farming Machinery
Farming machinery is intended to help farmers automate crop care and harvesting. Initially, three pieces of machinery will be available, with more planned for the future.
Each machine will have an effective radius. Crops within that radius will receive the benefits of the machine, and multiple machines can be placed on a farm property.
Farm vehicles are designed specifically for farming utility and cannot be used for racing.
Note: Farming mechanics are currently in development and may be adjusted before the feature is fully released. The details shared here reflect the current direction of the feature and are intended to help early adopters understand what is planned at this stage.
Utility Tractor
The Utility Tractor is the all-purpose machine of the farm. It provides automatic care for some crops and helps with auto-harvesting when crops are ready. Its radius is smaller than more specialized machinery, but it supports multiple parts of the farming process.

Field Sprayer
The Field Sprayer specializes in crop care. It has a larger radius than the Utility Tractor and helps automatically care for crops within its range, supporting stronger harvest outcomes.

Combine Harvester
The Combine Harvester specializes in harvesting. Crops within its radius can be automatically harvested, helping players collect more efficiently without needing to manually return for every harvest window.

Initial Farming Machinery Sale
For this initial sale, each farming machinery bundle will include a Fresno Farm Property. Farming machinery can only be placed on farm properties and will not work on residential properties or residential plants.
The farm property included in each bundle is a bonus. Players are purchasing the machinery and receiving the Fresno farm property as an included bonus.
Registration Starts: Thursday, May 28 at 9 AM PT
Sale Starts: Friday, May 29 at 9 AM PT
Because farms are still under development, this sale is intended for early adopters. Players who are not comfortable purchasing before the feature is fully developed can wait for future opportunities. Once utility is fully developed and activated for these items, future pricing is expected to be higher.
