Ready, Set, Merge! The Uppie Evolution Starts This Week

Upland is progressing with intent. We’re shipping faster, communicating more, and connecting core systems that define our open-economy city-builder. From property ownership and trading to Troves, Residents, Service Structures, Influence Scores, and now Uppies, everything is moving forward in sync.

This week, we’re excited to roll out one of the next big pieces in that foundation: Uppie Merge is going live!

This long-anticipated mechanic is more than just a feature. It’s a key step in the evolution of Upland. Uppie Merge directly supports our vision by integrating deeply into the gameplay loopof ownership, development, and trade. It allows you to level up your Uppies, unlocking new layers of utility as the ecosystem expands.

Soon, you’ll discover Uppies across the Upland map through the upcoming Uppie Discovery mini-game. From there, you’ll merge them, level them up, and eventually employ them to enhance your properties and service structures.

Merge is the critical next step, and it all begins this week.

Rolling Out in Phases

To ensure a smooth rollout, Uppie Merge will be introduced in phases:

  • Phase 1: Merging Levels 1–4
  • Phase 2: Merging Levels 5–9
  • Phase 3: Merging Level 10 Uppies into IPUs

Each phase will last several days, with at least an hours’ notice before the next phase goes live. The first phase kicks off later this week, so stay alert and get ready to merge!

How to Merge Your Uppies

Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you started:

  1. Go to the Uppies tab in your Asset Wallet.
  2. Select the Uppie you want to merge.
  3. Tap the “Show More Info” button to expand details.
  4. Hit the green Merge button.

5. On the Merge Uppie Screen, click the green “+” button to select a second Uppie.

6. View the Sparklet cost to merge the two Uppies.

7. Hit Merge and confirm the transaction.

8. After confirmation, your two Uppies will combine into a higher-level Uppie, and you’ll be redirected to its new main screen. Congratulations!

Note: The newly merged Uppie will appear after the merge is complete. The screenshot above was captured immediately following a short animation that reveals your new, leveled-up Uppie.

A Few Key Details

As you begin merging, there are some important mechanics to keep in mind that will shape your strategy and impact your decisions. From how generations combine to how pricing works, here’s what you need to know before diving in.

Mixing Generations: When you merge a Generation 1 Uppie with a Generation 2 Uppie, the generation of the resulting Uppie will be randomly determined, based on what’s available in the merge inventory. So you could end up with either a Gen 1 or Gen 2 Uppie.

Important: Future updates might bring more advanced mechanics that give you more control over the outcome.

Dynamic Pricing: Merge costs will adjust in real time, influenced by both supply and demand. Unlike the Seed Generation merge (which is based only on demand), Uppie Merge considers availability across levels.

Sparklet is Spent: Merging uses Sparklet, and once spent, it’s permanently removed from your wallet.

Moving Upland Forward

Uppie Merge represents more than a new mechanic. It reflects the direction Upland is moving as we continue to connect systems and expand the foundation of our open-economy city-builder.

Property ownership, development, trading, Troves, Uppies, Residents, Influence Scores, Service Structures, and more are being designed to work together in meaningful ways. Each feature builds on the last, creating living cities mapped to the real world and designed to be played forever.

This week marks another step forward. We’re excited to see players begin merging, leveling, and preparing their Uppies for what comes next. The evolution is underway, and we’re just getting started!
