Steve Jobs once said, “The journey is the reward.” That’s nice, but we think a little cherry on top makes the journey all the sweeter. And by cherry, we mean treasure. If you agree, then you should check out Recurring Rush, a new twist on the Standard Treasure Rush mode.
This new rush mode brings a few tweaks that encourage city exploration while allowing us to launch treasure rushes more frequently. Here’s how Recurring Rush works:
If you’ve joined prior treasure rushes, you’ll find a few differences in the new Recurring Rush mode. First is the change to single-city rushes instead of multi-city treasure hunts. The leaderboard expanding from 10 to 50 players is a big change that will reward more players. And changing treasure rushes from 30 minutes to 15 minutes is geared to put the pressure on.
Other than the changes above, Recurring Rush works like the Freedom Fest Treasure Rush held in July and the first treasure rush held during Genesis Week. However, please keep in mind that Recurring Rush is currently a pilot program so we can monitor rewards and engagement. Changes to Recurring Rush may come as a result of the pilot, and we’ll be sure to announce any changes.
The first Recurring Rush will be in Rio de Janeiro, the newest city opened in Upland. This Tier 4 Treasure Rush begins Friday, July 29, at 12:00 PM PT and lasts for 24 hours. Once you activate treasure rush, you’ll have just 15 minutes to spawn and collect as many treasures as possible.
When the Treasure Rush mode activates in a city, you’ll have a 24-hour window to jump into the Treasures tab in-game to start your rush. Hunt for treasures as you typically would and send your Block Explorer around the city to locate the hidden treasure.
As you hunt for treasures in this mode, no Sends will be used (though you will still need to pay Send/Visitor Fees) and rewards are dynamic, based on the treasure hunting tier. You will usually find a chest with a small amount of UPX. Occasionally you may find a rare treasure chest holding a nice haul of UPX – such as the Rio Chest in the first hunt!

Each time you find a Treasure, pay a small fee (10 UPX) to spawn the next Treasure and continue hunting. Keep finding treasures until the timer expires, and see how you compare to other top Treasure Hunters on city-specific leaderboards!
As you can see in the tier rewards chart below, there is a lot of UPX and Spark on the table! So line up your travel plans in advance. Remember that no sends are consumed while hunting, but you will pay travel fees along the way. After you’ve collected all of your sweet sweet treasure, keep an eye on the city leaderboard to see where you rank. After each rush, we’ll contact the top 50 players directly to hand out rewards.
All Treasure Rush Challenges start at 12:00 PM PT on the date noted below and run for 24 hours. Keep in mind that if you wish to participate in a specific city, you might need to travel so be sure to plan accordingly.
Note: While we will plan to keep the dates above, all dates are subject to change. Any changes will be communicated ahead of time.
As previously mentioned in our Freedom Fest Treasure Rush announcement, we’ll be shifting towards more city specific events. We will have multi-city treasure rushes in the future, however these events will be rarer. Fortunately, you can look forward to multiple Recurring Rush hunts each week, for now.
