Upland’s Sizzling Summer Sale
It’s been a busy summer and things are really starting to heat up! To commemorate the milestones crossed, including the launch of Rio and Porto (our first two international cities) and the first phases of community-manufactured Outdoor Decor, there’s a Block Explorer Sale and a Landmark Auction coming!
Block Explorer Sale
Three huge moments in Upland call for three new Block Explorers. With the release of Outdoor Decor manufacturing, we’re starting to see player-generated designs and in-game manufacturing at player-owned factories. Not only are these assets made by players, but thanks to our minting process Outdoor Decor is truly owned by players on the blockchain. Such huge advancements to the Upland metaverse call for something special, and we have a new Outdoor Decor NFT Wizard Block Explorer for the occasion.
Outdoor Decor NFT Wizard Block Explorer + 30k UPX
- Total Mints: 300
- Price: $30 USD
If wizards aren’t your thing, we have two more Block Explorers coming to the Upland Store thanks to global city releases in Rio and Porto. Rio and Porto properties sold in record time and are the first major steps in Upland’s development as the largest metaverse mapped to the real world.
Porto’s Block Explorer is a nod to the local cuisine highlighting the wine and cheese industry of the region.
Porto Wine and Cheese Block Explorer + 5k UPX

For Rio, what could be better than some beach chairs and an umbrella for the Uplander beach lovers out there?

Landmark Reverse-Auction
If you’ve been saving your UPX for a special property, get ready because we have a blockbuster reverse-auction for two Los Angeles landmarks coming! Register NOW for your chance to own one of these Upland landmarks and set the original market price while you can!
Speaking of blockbusters, the first landmark is the address for the TCL Theatre, aka Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, a must-see spot on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame. Here are some fun facts about this iconic L.A. location:
- The theatre’s forecourt is home to over 200 cement blocks signed by Hollywood icons and was the first to have prints in wet concrete.
- The TCL Theatre is home to huge red carpet events. What do Avengers: Infinity War, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Mary Poppins, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Star Wars have in common? They all premiered at this theatre (among many others).
- The theatre’s exterior was designed to resemble a traditional Chinese pagoda with its pillars featuring two Chinese dragons and Ming Dynasty lions guarding the golden front doors.
TCL Theatre Landmark Details:
- City: Los Angeles
- Address: 6925 HOLLYWOOD BLVD
- Size: 266 UP2
- Base mint: 339,150 UPX
- Minimum suggested mint: 2,407,965

Our second landmark is the address for the Peterson Automotive Museum found on Wilshire Boulevard. At this spot, you’ll find a more modern landmark that some amazingly vintage vehicles call home. Here are some interesting facts about this landmark:
- Peterson Automotive Museum is an anchor at the end of Museum Row, a special section of the Miracle Mile loaded with cultural venues and museums.
- An homage to classic cars, this museum has over 150 vehicles, with 25 of the marquee automobiles on rotating stands.
- This museum was renovated in 2015 and took inspiration from Google’s architecture, which is said to blend the car with the Space Age. The result is “sharp angles, rocket fins, starbursts, and bright colors.”
- Rapper royalty Notorious B.I.G. was shot in a vehicle outside the museum in 1997 after a Vibe magazine Soul Train Awards party.
Peterson Automotive Museum Details:

Landmark Reverse-Auction Details
We will be employing a modified version of the reverse-auction method that has been used for previous landmark auction events. In reverse auctions, we start at the highest price and lower it at scheduled times until someone mints the property. Rather than mint the property directly, however, this auction will take place inside the Upland store using our registration mechanics.
Here are auction details. Reserve your spot for a chance to have an iconic Los Angeles property in your portfolio!
- Registration Open: Tuesday, August 30 at 10:00 AM PT
- Registration Closes: Wednesday, August 31 at 8:00 AM PT
- Sale Starts: Wednesday, August 31 at 9:00 AM PT
Once registration begins, open the Upland Store, either on web or mobile, to register for one (or both) of the landmark addresses listed above. Registered players will be put into batches and allowed to purchase the landmark at the listed price. If purchased, the landmark will be reserved for the buyer and we will set the mint price of the landmark equal to the UPX price paid. Finally, we will give the appropriate amount of UPX back to the player to mint the property.
If after all registered players have had a chance to buy and the landmark has not been purchased, we will reduce its price by 5% of the original price every hour, until the Minimum Suggested Mint price is reached. Before the first price reduction, we will give a 10 minute warning which is your last chance to buy the landmark at its original price. Following price reductions will occur one hour after the previous one without a warning.
To see the updated prices, you must close the Upland Store pop-up and open it again to refresh the store.
