From the back of the net to front-page news, it’s time to break out your blue and white gear to celebrate FC Porto Essentials in the Upland metaverse! These collectibles are about to launch and are the first-ever football (aka soccer) Legits, making them spectacular items for Portista fans worldwide and for all Uplanders who want a little piece of history in their Upland wallets.
Bringing football into the metaverse has been a goal of ours for a long time. There’s nothing quite like the passion and tradition of European football, and bringing a championship-caliber club like FC Porto into Upland truly ups our game.
This first phase of Legits comes jam-packed with information and lays the foundation for a deeper experience unveiled throughout the FC Porto season and beyond! Let’s take a closer look at FC Porto Legits so you can get ready to score these fantastic collectibles.
FC Porto Essentials are collectibles that give Portista fans a new way to celebrate their team and players while building value for their portfolio. Even if you’re not interested in the team, these Legits bring new activities and economic potential to Upland.
In this first phase, Legit Essentials are available for all FC Porto players on the roster. Every athlete has two Essentials: a Boot (cleat) and a Shirt (jersey). These Essentials have an unlimited supply for the duration of the season, making them openly available to all.
Essentials fall into three tiers:
FC Porto Essentials may change tiers based on player performances in each match. For example, FC Porto forward Evanilson’s Shirt Essential might jump from Starter tier to Superstar tier after a great match against Benfica. Minting when Essentials are at a higher tier bring benefits such as more Fan Points and more demand from other Uplanders on the secondary market.
Tip: These Essentials are similar to the NFLPA Legit Essentials launched earlier this year. They’re not exactly the same, but you can learn plenty about Essentials, variants, minting, and more from the NFLPA Essentials post.
Think of Essentials like anything else people collect as a hobby or as an investment, such as baseball cards, comic books, coins, etc. In the future, we’ll launch new Collections and mechanics to put more activities and rewards into these Essentials (think NFLPA Ultimate Fan Challenge but with an FC Porto twist). Essentials will play a part in building your Fan Score, which will give top fans unique benefits such as access to Mementos in Early Sales (which are registration-required events). There are also third-party development mechanics in the works, which will open even more possibilities for FC Porto activities in Upland. We can’t wait to see what developers can do with the tools and content at their fingertips!
Also like other memorabilia, players can Swap collectibles with other players. This is a great way to trade away less-desired items or cash in on unique items. Please keep in mind that economic mechanics such as selling Legits on the secondary market (via Fan Shops) will be announced at a later date.
Let’s cover where to go and how to purchase FC Porto Essentials. First, we’ve added a Football Legits shortcut to the in-app Quick Menu. From here you can go to My Legits, Guide, or Stadiums. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll see inside the app:
It’s important to note that Uplanders can preview the Legit Shop at any time. But to complete Legits purchases, they’ll need to Send their Block Explorers to Porto and be in range of the FC Porto Stadium, Estádio do Dragão.
Note: While Estádio do Dragão is under construction, players can visit the Legit Shop across the street from the stadium. The shop address is Via Futebol Clube do Porto 705.
Before opening the Fan Shop in the app, you can see your Fan Score for FC Porto from the Stadiums menu. This score updates dynamically based on the Legits in your wallet. For now, the score is for bragging rights. Later, Fan Scores will be key to various activities as we mentioned earlier.
Going into the Fan Shop, you can view and select FC Porto Essentials bundles. Bundles come in two types: three-item bundles and four-item bundles. Remember, there are Superstar, Starter, and Player varieties for each bundle, all of which impact your Fan Score. Last but not least, by tapping on a bundle you’ll see exactly what’s inside before finalizing a purchase.
After buying a bundle, you’ll receive email and in-app notifications regarding your order status. Then you can enjoy the confetti-filled package containing your freshly-minted Legits!
Essentials give Uplanders a chance to own the first European football Legits of their favorite FC Porto players. But that is just the beginning! FC Porto Essentials are the first step toward new Upland activities such as building your Fan Score and other challenges on their way. These Essentials are also a big part of opening new Metaventures. For those interested in opening the first ever Football Fan Shops, there will be an inventory requirement of at least 10 Legits.
