Farming & Animals

Farming scales the plant system. Instead of a fruit tree producing the occasional Trove, a farm produces crops like wheat, corn, apples, and grapes at consistent, high volume.

Why farm

  • Generate STEM at scale through STEM-bearing crops.
  • Feed Recipes that need raw resources.
  • Specialise. Some Architects build their whole strategy around farming.

Where farming fits

Farming doesn't replace any other playstyle. Residential properties, decorative builds, fishing, and service structures continue to produce the full range of Troves the city needs. Farming scales one specific resource type while the rest of the world produces a variety. This builds natural interdependence between Architects.

Animals

are an additional layer of Life. Earned through gameplay using the recipe system: specific combinations of Troves at farming-related structures give you a chance to receive an animal.

The first animals in Upland

  • Cows. Produce milk Troves.
  • Sheep. Produce wool Troves.
  • Chickens. Produce egg Troves.
  • Horses. Earned via stable Recipes. Visible and moving on the map.

Animal Troves feed directly back into Recipes, expanding the goods players can craft for Uppie quests.
